Carol Bebelaar was a resident of California and Texas before moving to Shelby County, Alabama, in 1999. She is a freelance writer and photographer who brought about the concept of The Shelby County Scene. As a relative newcomer, Carol initiated the work in order to acquaint others and herself with the positive and diverse traits of her new home. She lives in Montevallo with her dog, Ralph, and her cat Gracie.

 
Steve Martin has been in communications for more than 30 years. He has been a journalist, public relations, and marketing professional in newspapers, higher education and healthcare. He has experience in writing, photography and graphics. A native of Mississippi, he has been a resident of Shelby County, Alabama since 1984. He is president of Oak Mountain Publishing Co., Inc. and lives in unincorporated north Shelby County near Indian Springs Village.
